Gregg Pasterick

Gregg Pasterick, Arizona musician

Gregg was three weeks shy of his 9th birthday when the Beatles first appeared on Ed Sullivan. It sent his life careening off down an unexpected path from which he has never strayed. As far as his own music goes, Pasterick describes himself as a “below-fi cosmic cowboy,” and this seems an apt description. In early 2019, we were proud to release his appropriately spaced out yet captivating album, Foreign Lands And Distant Planets, and he also contributed a standalone track to our 2019 label-wide compilation disc.

After an extended hiatus, Gregg returned at last in 2023 with the even better disc Tombstone. Among the hallmarks of his compositions are a somewhat surreal, unexpected catchiness, a genuine warmth bleeding through the tracks, and seriously clever wordplay. For the uninitiated, we would possibly recommend the two tracks starting with the word “don’t” as an excellent starting point: Don’t You Know That I Love You, which is a really touching tune you’ll be whistling immediately, and the somewhat bawdier Don’t Tell Your Children. We also really like the jazzy guitar work on Amelia Pond, to cite just another example. But wherever you choose to drop in, the listen is a highly textured and pleasantly varied one.

In search of a “safer, quieter place,” after previously living in Arizona and elsewhere, he and his wife eventually landed in New Mexico. Here, they continue to bird-watch, chase wildflowers, and star gaze (he majored in Astronomy in college). Though Pasterick cautions, “two years later and we’re still searching.”

Crack! Bang! Pow! playing live in Laredo

Crack! Bang! Pow!

Texas band Crack! Bang! Pow!
Crack! Bang! Pow!

Crack! Bang! Pow! is the “New Wave Grunge” project started by Brad Peterson and Ryan Reyna in the summer of 2015.  For years Brad and Ryan had been heavy hitters in the Corpus Christi, TX punk rock scene.  As fate would have it, they met in music school at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi.  After playing some gigs with the university ska band, The Eskape Tones, Ryan invited Brad over to jam.

Coincidentally, Brad was looking for a solid “Dave Grohl-esque” style drummer to record and take his acoustic songs to the next level in a full band, grunge format.  Ryan turned out to be the perfect applicant.  Together they rehearsed and polished the songs and headed to the studio.  Brad’s long time friend, Frank Slaby stepped in to fill out the low end on bass and the project was complete.

The group currently has new tracks in the works to be released soon, as well as other songs and creative ideas ready to be recorded and developed.  The sky’s the limit with this group as they churn out killer improvised ideas every time they step into the jam room.  With the new addition of their good friend Jesse Goodwin filling in on lead guitar and adding haunting vocal harmonies, Crack! Bang! Pow! remains ready to take over the world.

Minneapolis musician Ted Hajnasiewicz

Ted Hajnasiewicz

Ted Hajnasiewicz is a Minneapolis born songwriter in the Americana vein, who has been composing songs for as long as he can remember. Though he likes to joke about having “tens, possibly dozens of listeners,” the reality is he has a strong following on places such as Spotify, Facebook, and Youtube and is in demand as a live performer, playing out often.

One listen to his music will indicate why. He has a warm sound with often raw, confessional lyrics which allow the emotion to shine through. Yet also a classic touch running through the song, to where you can’t believe this tune hasn’t been around for 100 years. We are proud to include him on our May 2019 compilation, and expect more great things from Ted. Be sure to follow him in these places, by clicking on the links/icons below:

BLC MIRROR CLB are an indie rock band based out of Nice, France. They just signed with Exquisite Noise prior to the release of our 2019 compilation CD, contributing the track KamiKaze to it. Featuring what they describe as “filthy music and incisive music,” the duo of Fabz & Marz offer a powerful macabre ride through the maze of the human soul. The crunchy guitars and dark vibes coupled with a strong sense of melody call to mind such luminaries as The Cure, Smashing Pumpkins, or maybe even Marilyn Manson, albeit with an unmistakably modern edge. They have recently completed their first album, therefore are just beginning what should be a remarkable career – we look forward to many future classics from them.

November 2024 brings Love is the Cure, an exclusive, limited edition vinyl album! Only 150 copies are printed, on a killer looking transparent vinyl slab. It was mastered at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, and drummer Marz even played the same orange acrylic Ludwig kit as a certain John Bonham. Sonically, these guys remind us of early 2000s luminaries such as Interpol, mixed with the most cutting edge modern rock sounds imaginable, and then maybe a splash of old school Cure thrown into the blender as well. But of course you should give them a listen yourselves, and draw your own conclusions – which are certain to be highly favorable.

Whatever the case, be sure to get your copy while you can! Order it right here from our site, while supplies last:

Chicago musician Eric Sirota AKA Rota

Rota

Rota first signed with us basically right at the deadline for inclusion on our Suitable For Public Consumption compilation album. Since that time, we have also proudly released a full-length effort from him, Neurotica, and he has also contributed a killer cover of Neutral Milk Hotel’s Oh Comely to our label-wide compilation Chill Before Serving. When we asked him for a little biographical material, here’s what he had to say:

“Rota is a do-gooder lawyer by day and a rapper/spoken word poet by night and he needs both of these to stay sane. He is currently in the process of moving to Ann Arbor to supervise students who provide free representation to veterans at Michigan Law School. He is a proud member of Rogue Tendency in Champaign, Illinois, and the Nocturnals and the Interfaith Poets in Chicago. You can’t miss him. He’s the tallest Jew for miles.”

In more recent years, Rota has dispensed The Bad Place EP, as well as the excellent standalone single, Feed The Kids Dirt, featuring Emma.

Jamitjames

Originally from Melbourne, Australia, and currently living in Singapore, Jamit is an electronic music producer influenced by dub, electro, techno and funk sounds. He uses Ableton Live & Push. He believes music is often about eating, drinking, dancing and enjoyment, but at other times it’s the voice of activism and making a change for the better. Since his signing with Exquisite Noise in late 2018, we have issued numerous singles of his, both solo and in collaboration with other artists, and in May of 2019 he contributed a song to Vol. 6 of our label-wide compilation series.

In more recent times, he has begun to collaborate with other artists. Kroissenbrunner remixes are one such prominent example, though he also teamed up with Syafiq Halid on the sublime track Gonna Wanna Dunno.

Rizo Balic

UK musician Rizo Balic

Rizo Balic

Rizo Balic recently came to our attention as a prolific composer in a wide variety of genres, one who has been at this for decades now. He was born in Montenegro, but has called the UK home for over 20 years.  While living in Yugoslavia, his main influences became figures of that pop and rock scene: The White Button, Silver Wings, Early Frost. He arrived in the UK, barely knowing English, having learned only a handful of words from American movies and TV. When he began studying the language at evening school, he also became infatuated with many American and European musical acts, such as ABBA, the Beatles, Elton John, and Madonna.

He says that these artists played a major role in his musical development. Formerly, while studying in Belgrade, he had written poems, and now began translating these into song lyrics. He eventually took a night course in studying music theory and composition, as well. We feel that you can hear these disparate influences on his music, while is often symphonic like a film score, especially during the instrumentals, but also brings pop elements to the table in his collaborations with, for example, female vocalists. Whatever the case, we are thrilled to have him aboard, and to have this chance to expose his music to a much deserved wider audience.

Along with a handful of offerings released thus far on our label, Rizo has also contributed a track to our spring 2019 label-wide compilation disc. Listen to his latest single below, and be sure to investigate more fully on these other profiles:

Almighty Siles

Almighty Siles - Positive Vibes

Almighty Siles

Born Glen Dale Coleman, Jr. in a small country town by the name of Belle Glade, FL, Almighty Siles describes himself as a “goofy, laid-back type of guy.” But make no mistake about it, music has always been his first love. He realized at an early age that music was his dream job. Honing his skills while attending job corps, he became a freestylist, and then, after returning to Florida at age 18, he dropped a mixtape single that became quite popular in the region. After taking a few years off during college, he is back on the scene, working with “a football team of artists” to help craft his latest r & b smashes.

Album cover for Peculiaroso's "Bad Thoughts" single

Peculiaroso

Peculiaroso is an international artist who has just recently signed with Exquisite Noise Records. Though playing out extensively as a live performer, he is only just now beginning to focus more upon studio releases. We are proud to have issued his debut single with us, Bad Thoughts, in April of 2019, and think this is a really catchy track – sort of a hybrid of indie and classic rock, with a couple spacier elements thrown into the mix. Plus did we mention it features a killer sax solo?

You can check out Bad Thoughts at all the top download and streaming sites. Get it now at Amazon and/or Apple, and be sure to follow this exciting performer in all your favorite places:

Album cover for Dingbat's "Ramblings (Hop Off Your High Horse)"

Dingbat

Dingbat is the alias for Isaac Ashby, a young composer from the Atlanta, GA region who is just getting his start in the music industry. Even so, his highly alluring electronic works possess something of a cinematic quality to them, if you ask us – and it would seem he agrees, judging from some of the song titles. His debut album, Ramblings (Hop Off Your High Horse), was released by Exquisite Noise in April of 2019, and the project seems to flow as you would expect the score for an actual movie. But don’t take our word for it, be sure to listen below:
