Continua

Continua is a versatile quartet that borrows from the boundless idiom of alternative rock in order to sculpt an engrossing narrative by seamlessly combining the spirit and awe of glam rock, the grit of grunge, and the appeal of pop. Continua is the brainchild of Cincinnati based darkwave singer Bishop Battle, Day of Awakening’s Brian Buckalew, and guitarist/songwriter Jason Mulkey, who are joined by percussionist Alex Crockett. Continua’s sound includes the use of instrumental and vocal layering, minor tonality, and combining guitar and bass driven tracks with electronic synthesizers, as evidenced in the successful new track “The Darkest City” from their debut album “Daybreak,” which touts a dark and hook-y alt-rock charm in the soaring vocals and jagged guitars. Other notable tracks include the contemplative and theatrically dynamic “Echoes,” as well as the intricately brooding yet driving “Daybreak.” Continua’s unapologetic avant-garde sound and performances, which have impressed audiences through Daybreak’s musicality, top-notch performances, and songwriting, as well as their engaging stage presence, makes Continua one of the surprise top genre-bending breakout artists of the decade.

Album cover for Dingbat's "Ramblings (Hop Off Your High Horse)"

Dingbat

Dingbat is the alias for Isaac Ashby, a young composer from the Atlanta, GA region who is just getting his start in the music industry. Even so, his highly alluring electronic works possess something of a cinematic quality to them, if you ask us – and it would seem he agrees, judging from some of the song titles. His debut album, Ramblings (Hop Off Your High Horse), was released by Exquisite Noise in April of 2019, and the project seems to flow as you would expect the score for an actual movie. But don’t take our word for it, be sure to listen below:

“Hold My Own” hits the shelves

Zach Lunsford of Exquisite Noise Records

Though this Cleveland, Georgia trio’s debut CD has in fact been out for weeks now at some select retailers, and is already officially our label’s biggest YouTube success, we’re feeling like its iTunes and Amazon launch is reason enough to sing Hold My Own‘s praises all over again. Self recorded on a shoe string (which, after all, is what we’re about, the very essence of our being, the sun around which…well, you get the point), the raw yet powerful performances in an instant reminded us – and hopefully every person that gives a listen – what country music is supposed to sound like. Not pop music with a little bit of twang, but rather strong songwriting, a somewhat gritty, somewhat plaintive voice, and no frills production. Do yourself a favor and check out Hold My Owneven if you think (as I admittedly had for years) that you can’t stand modern country music.

Country, Steroids, Soul: Zach Lunsford

Zach Lunsford of Exquisite Noise Records

Country-Artist-Zach-Lunsford

Cleveland, Georgia native Zach Lunsford has been singing since he was 13 and has subsequently criss-crossed the southeast performing live. If he had one request for this press release, however,  announcing that he has become the latest Exquisite Noise signing, it was that we kept it short, simple, and to the point. So we will do our best to oblige him. In keeping it brief, let us just say that when we stumbled onto his ReverbNation profile (fast becoming a black hole of time consumption for us, that site), we immediately liked his style. Zach himself says his music has been described as “country music on steroids with a touch of old fashioned soul,” and as we would be hard pressed to top that statement, we’ll just leave it stand.

Currently, Zach is recording his debut album for us, with a release slated for sometime this summer. In the meantime, please listen to some cuts on his Reverb profile and show some support for this newest addition to our family!
