It’s been a busy month here at the southern Exquisite Noise compound, though we’re of a mind that a rising tide carries all ships, et cetera, all that jazz, and that everyone on our roster should benefit from this increasing buzz. With this in mind, we’re pleased to announce our second April signing, this one a young, noisy, and very original trio from Mooresville, North Carolina named Pinko. Though only playing together a short while, they’ve already hit their stride with a number of singular yet melodic tunes, hinting at even greater things to come. To give you some indication of what to expect, the first time I heard them I was instantly reminded of those zany, though criminally underrated, experimental bands that I began listening to in the early to mid 90s, groups like Ween, Butthole Surfers, and their ilk, high on both originality and a sneaky, unexpected musicianship.
They’ve been playing some live shows and working on new material, with the intention of entering a studio any day now. We’re discussing a summer release date with a single or two possibly leaking out even sooner. In the meantime, please listen to and download some older demos on their Bandcamp page, like them on Facebook, and by all means stay tuned for future developments!
